For months Quinn has been patiently watching us eat; taking in every movement at meal time from plate to mouth and stealthily trying to lift food. And we always said 'not yet buddy, wait till you get some teeth'. So, as soon as Quinn's first tooth pushed through Lola couldn't wait to get some real food into the boy. We decided to start with sweet potatoes. He couldn't wait to get them out of Lola's hands when she brought them to the table. But, ultimately he was reserved with them and thoughtfully put them into his mouth, taking his time, gumming and exploring. Not bad for a first experience with food, he was pretty clean and happy to be finally eating something at dinner time.
Then the next day we gave him bananas. He loves them. He loves to rub them all over his face and hair. He loves to take off his bib so that he can rub them into his clothes. He loves to chew them and then spit them out and laugh. He loves to thrown them on the floor and chew on the spoon. But, most of all he loves to eat them.
I'm imagining more of this in my future and less of the clean reserved boy.
This is a lot more fun anyways.

Baby Evelyn Turns 1
Baby Evelyn is no longer a baby, she just turned one! In honour of her big birthday he mom and dad threw her a Mexican fiesta. There was a tiki bar, a swimming pool, fajitas, a giant sombrero, a pinata and lots of laughs!
Happy Birthday Evelyn!
Teething
We have been pretty sure that Quinn has been working on teeth for awhile. He is always gnawing on anything that gets close to him and drooling like a fiend. He has been sporting his amber teething necklace and taking his homeopathics for weeks and finally last week a little tooth emerged.
It is on the bottom left, you have to zoom in to see the little guy. It is hard to get a very good photo of it because anytime you get close to his open mouth he tries to eat you.
But, it is a tooth and he is pleased with himself. I'm thinking that there are more on their way since the drooling, chewing, ear pulling, and fussiness hasn't really let up. I'm hoping that they all come in quick so that we can get this over with.

At The Car Wash
One day while Quinn napped Lola ran a car wash for her toys.
Everyone was included cars, trucks, planes, lunch boxes.
Whether they were dirty or not they were treated to the deluxe wash which includes a bubble wash with a cloth, a soap down with a brush and then a final rinse. There was also some splashing and soaking of Mom, so all in all it was a great activity.

Face Paint
Lola is a big fan of face paint, a day doesn't go by without at least one face paint request. This is my most ambitious face painting attempt to date. I'm pretty proud of it.
And it made Lola a very happy little girl!

Sidewalk Chalk Paint
With Lola home full time our days are much, much busier. I spend time
the night before coming up with a plan for the following day and
ensuring that we have all the necessary tools to make the day fun filled
and successful. Only two weeks in and I'm looking for ideas. Thankfully I found this great site, Busy Kids = Happy Mom and it is full of great easy, fun ideas.
The one that Lola and I were most eager to test out was sidewalk chalk paint. We made three colours and spent two hours decorating every last inch of pavement outside of our house.
Next time we are making more colours and planning on brightening up our whole street.

Prince Quinn
Lola made Quinn this crown. She loves how cute he looks in it; he just loves anything that his big sister does.

Last day
Lola and her buddy Nolan Ryan (yes, his Dad is a baseball fan) have been together since her first day at daycare. They are good friends and do silly very well when they are together. Nolan lives close by so we know that we will see him around the neighbourhood.
Lola wanted to show us all her favourite things about her room at day care. It is no real surprise that she is a big fan of the drama and dress up area. Apparently so is Jenn!
Lola took the time to go from room to room and say good bye to every member of the Boulton family. Nicole was responsible for all of the great hair dos that Lola came home with and also for her love of Nicki Minaj.
Thanks for 3 great years Boulton! We miss you all!

Uncle Jeff
It was a whirlwind visit that was lots of fun and full of chicken wings, ice cream, baseball, coffee and silliness.
