Last week Sarah came upon
Cake Pops while surfing the web, I mean work related internet searching. We talked about it and thought that they were clearly one of the cutest things we had ever seen and that we could probably, totally, almost for sure do that.
So, this weekend we decided to have a Cake Pop experiment. We gathered all the required ingredients and set to work to create some pretty sweet treats while our kids were hanging out.
Step one cut the cake; see totally easy.
Step two crumble the cake; again pretty easy.
Step three mix in some icing; at this point we were pretty confident in our mad Cake Pop skills based on the success of the project so far.

Dylan came in to help and clean any cake crumbs off the pans.
While Sarah continued to mix, Lola and Dylan had a photo shoot. My picture taking was clearly an intrusion on their photo time because Dylan grabbed Lola's hand and said "come one Lola, lets go somewhere else". The next time I looked in on them Lola was posing for photographer Dylan; thankfully his camera battery died quite shortly after that!
While I was monitoring the children Sarah pushed on with step four making cake balls; it was still going so well and we were now really confident that we are going to be amazing at these.
Cake balls made and ready for step five, put them in the freezer. This was also the time where we attempted what we both thought would be impossible; nap time. But, the gods were with us and both kids went down for a nap with little to no problems. We both took it as a sign that these Cake Pops were going to be amazing.
Step six was the most anticipated step; decorating the Cake Pops!
Candy coating was melted, lollipop sticks inserted, chocolate was drizzled and candies were applied.

My first two attempts and my first two successful Cake Pops! Step six was defiantly my favourite and the most fun. There is no other was to describe these treats other then super cute!
Both kids slept for over two hours, which left Sarah and I with lots of time to decorate and drink rum and cokes. It was a lovely afternoon and a surprisingly successful one. Pictures of the results and the taste testers in the next post.
I had no interest in a photo. Mom tried to wrestle me down with kisses, but I said no. Dad tried an airplane ride to make me sit still, but in the end I just did it in my own way and time.
Uncle Jon was questioning Mom as to how long these would go on. Mom figures that they will continue forever, but she will only publish them on the blog as long as the people are still interested. You are still are interested in the monthly photo shoot aren't you?
When Dylan came over on the weekend he brought his bouncy castle. We had just gotten it all set up when Dylan had to leave for his Nana and Ba's house. So, Sarah said that the bouncy castle could stay in our backyard!! I love her! I have so much fun in the bouncy castle. I like to bounce in it, roll around in it, run in circles in it, and generally be crazy in it.
