Way Back Play Back: St.Patty's Edition

Kids like most holidays, the most popular ones are normally the big ones, like Christmas, Easter and Halloween.  Not for these three kids, they love St. Patrick's Day.  It is a pretty relaxed holiday where we all dress in green and gather at the Etherington residence for some food, beverages, and some games.  I think that the kids like it so much because they get to do what they want and the adults get to do what they want; on two different floors!  If we can't see what you are doing, we can't tell you to stop! Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was what the original intention of St. Patrick's Day was.

Last year Sarah introduced the St.Patty's Day treasure hunt for the kids and this has only managed to make this amazing holiday even better.

And the loot at the end of the treasure hunt is a bag of candy! See it just keeps getting better.

Quinn (who looked a like a hooligan) was too little this year to participate in the treasure hunt or to play in the basement with the big kids, but next year he will be there.   He has already realized that it is more fun then hanging with the adults.

Thanks again for an amazing St. Patty's day!

Sewing

Katie has created this very lovely and very serine sewing room in her house.  It is something out of a dream; with great lighting, a fire place, a comfy couch, a closet of fabric, a couple of machines, and oodles of wine.  I love spending time there; in fact Katie and I almost always end up hanging in her sewing room.  Recently Lola has started gravitating towards the sewing room and likes to help Katie work and consult on thread colours.  Then she has to race back to the toy room and see what the boys have been up to in her absence.

I mostly remain on the couch by the fire with my glass of wine.  Life is good!

My Helpers

Lola loves to bake with me; and when we are working in the kitchen she loves to be in charge of the KitchenAid.  I recently had to admit that the main reason Lola loves to help me in the kitchen is so that she can sneak tastes of whatever delicious treat we are working on when I am not looking.  I need to keep a good eye on her to ensure that fingers, spatulas and wooden spoons are all being kept in the proper places (at least until we are done and it is time to lick them all).

During one of our recent baking adventures I left the kitchen briefly, only to return to this.
Quinn has now learned the joys of cookie dough and cake batter; she is a wonderful big sister.

Easter

Our Easter egg hunt this year was so much fun.  It was great to see Lola finally getting it and so excited to race around the house looking for treats.
Quinn was right behind Lola not exactly understanding what was happening, but loving the treats that the bunny had left behind.
Lola was great and remembered to include Quinn in on the hunt.  She quickly discovered the difference between the cracker eggs and the candy eggs and determined that the bunny must have intended for all of the cracker eggs to be for Quinn.
Checking out the loot and figuring out what would be shared with Mom and Dad.
Two of the cutest bunnies to ever visit our house!
We hope that you had a wonderful Easter; ours was filled with love, laughter, and chocolate!

International Hair Model

At least that was the plan.  Things didn't work out quite like I had dreamed, we didn't end up winning the competition, but did make it to the semi-finals.  It was still a whole lot of fun and when I am feeling down I can look at this super beautiful picture of myself and the world seems so much better. I'm thinking of having it blown up and putting it in my office!

If you ever need super sweet hair, Jini Jung is the place to call!
