Happy Birthday Uncle Jon and Uncle Josh

Back in May Uncle Jon and Uncle Josh celebrated their birthday.  Their birthday is the official kick off to the Dunton birthday season.  As people have scattered across the country the schedule for the birthday season has become much less intense and starts later in the year, but I still always like to remember it the way that it was; when we were booked every Sunday for months to have a bbq and eat the traditional birthday cake and complain about having to see each other, AGAIN.

Uncle Jon and Uncle Josh doing their favourite things!
Lola was in charge of decorating the cake and this was the first time that Quinn helped with the smarties placement.  Quinn's smarties were mostly placed in his mouth or on the floor.  Which pleased Lola greatly because she got the good big sister points for sharing with her little brother, but didn't have him wrecking her birthday masterpiece.

I'm Sailing

This is what I think of every time we walk onto Silver Heels.  This year when we went out on the boat Grandpa Paul brought along some extra ropes just in case we needed do this exact same thing to Quinn.  But, as it turned out we have two very good little sailors in our family.
Lola and Quinn were quite happy to, once again, be out on the high seas of Georgian Bay.  They both love to play below where everything is little person sized.

It was a pretty calm day for sailing, so we spent some time motor sailing and despite the original weather predictions the sun was shinning and it was beautiful and warm.

Thanks for a great visit Grandpa and Oma

Happy Birthday Dylan

For Dylan's 6th birthday he had a ninja sleepover.  Lola was over the moon, especially after we explained the whole ninja thing to her.  Quinn wasn't invited for the sleepover part, but he did get to hangout with the birthday boy before and wore a cool ninja bandana.

Trying to take a photo of three ninja is sort of like trying to take a photo of three monkeys.

Lola and her most serious ninja face.
Thanks for throwing the great birthday party Sarah!

Birthday Celebrations

This year was a big birthday for me, so not only did I wake up to a front yard full of pink flamingos and have a lovely dinner out with friends!

But, I also got a surprise family trip to Niagara Falls.
While in Niagara we did all of our favourite things; we had baths and did lots and lots of swimming.
We watched movies in bed while eating snacks and wrote notes on every free piece of stationary provided by the hotel.

And we went to Margaritaville and did our best pirate impressions and coloured treasure maps.

We had breakfast over looking the falls and remembered to get a photo of the whole family.
And we did some more pirate impressions.
It was a wonderful trip and we all can't wait to get back and visit again.

Mother's Day

The blog has been lacking as of late, I know this.  There are a couple of factors that play into this; first of all my favourite camera is in need of repair and I really just don't take as many photos without it. We also recently got iphones which means that I am now taking and sharing photos instantly and not saving them for my blog updates.  Also, there has been illness, nothing major, but after awhile colds, pink eye, strep throat, flu, and ear infections can really start to wear you down.  So, that is where we have been; there are no grandiose promises to turn over a new leaf and be here more often, but at least now you know where we are coming from.

So, back in May we celebrated Mother's Day.

Lola painted this beautiful pot for me and made the most beautiful I love you sign.  It was pretty wonderful.
I also got the thing that I have been asking for a lot lately; a brand new toilet seat.  And Quinn was super great and had a long afternoon nap, so it was pretty much the most perfect day.
