Party Rockers

We have a new favourite song around here, Party Rock Anthem, Lola requests it all the time. These photos don't do her shufflin' justice, but enjoy none the less.

And yes, this dance does need to be done topless and with props.

Easter Crafts

Mom and Sarah like to make stuff. They spend weeks looking through craft books and magazines in order to completely plan out their holiday crafting and baking sessions. This year for Easter they decided that working on cream filled eggs and Chick cakepops would be the focus of their Easter craft day.

The cream filled eggs were a recipe suggested by Grandma and the ladies thought that they would tackle them first.
They were pretty easy mix sugar with more sugar and then some sweetened milk.
Form the sugar into egg like structures.
And then dip in chocolate.
Wrapped in purple foil to make them look official. Done!

Part of the excitement for Mom and Sarah is that while they are baking and crafting they get a chance to go and get fueled up on designer coffees from the Red Rocket. The Red Rocket is always full of delicious treats and on this visit the ladies felt that they needed something a little bit more substantial then a cookie or a muffin to get them through an afternoon of cake popping. They decided that they needed the macaroni and cheese empanada! It also contains cut up hot dogs and a sprinkling of potato chip. It is as delicious as it looks, unless you think it looks gross, then it is way better then it looks.
Then it was back to work in the kitchen. They are getting pretty good at decorating cakepops. Though when you are working with something this cute it is really hard to screw it up.
See, look how cute they are!

The cakepop chick army all ready for distribution across Southern Ontario over the Easter holidays. Mom and Sarah were pretty happy with how everything turned out.

More pictures from the rest of the busy Easter weekend to come!

Montreal

Mom is attempting a blog-jack and wants to take over control of Lola and put up some pictures from their recent train trip to Montreal. She figures that you always get to see all the great things that I get to do and that you should see that they get to do cool things too. And some times they do those cool things without me.
Here is the view from their hotel window.
And this is a sleepy picture of Mom and Dad before they headed out for a late brunch.
Mom and Dad went out for some pretty delicious sounding designer burgers and they also had boozy milk shakes. Mom filled up on milk shakes!
They did some walking around while they were there, but based on their photos all they did was eat and drink.
They swear that they saw some historical buildings and got some culture, but I don't know if I believe them.
Regardless of what they did while away they had a great time and missed me every minute!

501

I can't believe it. I put up post #500 and didn't even notice. I had a big plan for 500, some give aways, videos, bells and whistles; but instead I missed it. And you just get this for 501. Oh well, maybe I'll do something big for #600!

Baking Sundays

For most of the winter Lola and I have kept up our baking Sunday challenge. We are slowly working our way through the best cookbook ever, Flour. We have made a number of amazing treats and Lola really enjoys that she gets to help and be an active part of the baking process. I have picked up a number of instruments that make baking more interactive for her and at the same time allows us to make an an outstanding treat.
It is a terribly messy process and I am continually fighting to keep her from eating all the dough or mix before I can make it, but I love it and I love that we do it together.
It makes us both so happy! Baking is one of those things that I imagined I would do with my children long before I ever considered having kids. It is like a really messy dream come true!

Bike Riding and Picnics

The return of the sunshine has meant a lot of bike riding around here. To fit a bike ride into our busy evenings after school we rush home have a quick picnic snack and then get on bike. Leaving dinner till we get back from our ride. We are hoping that once the weather gets a bit warmer we can pack our picnics and take them with us on the bike to have a outdoor picnic at the park. We have also picked out a restaurant that might work well as a half way point on a good sized ride.
I am already thinking that this is going to be a great summer!

She Is Growing Up So Fast

Sometimes I look at Lola and can't believe how quickly the last two and a bit years have gone. She has gone from my tiny little baby to a grown up sazzy big girl. Sometimes when you ask her how old she is she tells you 'sixteen'; when I look at these photos of her pushing her stroller sixteen doesn't seem that far off.

Happy Birthday Zach!

Zach turned 3 this past weekend. Check out the super cool cake that his mom made for him. I was really excited by Mater being part of the cake, he is my favourite.
And when it came time to have the cake, it was made even cooler by sparklers!
Here I am with Parke drinking some juice and waiting for cake! Happy Birthday Zach and thanks for the invite to your sweet party!

My First Hair Cut

This past weekend Grandpa and Oma drove down for a visit. We hadn't seen them since our trip to Florida, so it was nice to see them and catch up on everything that has happened since February!

Mom asked Oma if she could give my hair a little trim, recently my bangs have grown enough to get in my eyes, so she thought that it was time. The before shots, my long flowing locks.
The action shots, Oma did very good and fast work and I sat super sit for her. I was really excited about Oma's salon being open for business in my house!
The after shots. You might not be able to really tell by these photos, but I did get a full trim and I love it.
Oma's salon doesn't just do hair, but they also do nails with flower stickers and gems. I sat very still so that they could dry with no mucking them up.
Thanks so much for the visit and all the beauty work Oma and Grandpa. It was so nice to see you!
